Carlo at dawn. Sossusvlei, Namibia 2012.

Carlo was born in Jadotville in the former Belgian Congo.  Though a Belgian he has spent only 3 years in his mother country and the rest of his life, until 2001, has been in the Cape region of South Africa.  In 2001 he moved to London to join Rosie and a year later they both moved to Provence in the South of France.  A beautiful, mediaeval Provencal village is now their home.  His brothers are still in Cape Town.

Carlo studied at Cape Town university, graduating as a land surveyor.  He continued to teach there on a part-time basis whilst running his own surveying practise.  He has a BsC and Masters degree.

Rosie was born in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa where she lived until 7 years old.   Both her parents are English.   Her family moved back to England in 1954 where she remained until 1965.  After that she spent many years travelling and working her way around the world. These travels culminated in a trip across Africa from Cape Town to Morocco in 1974/5.  With a Canadian friend she drove over 24,000 miles in a VW Kombi. Various work projects kept her in London during the following 15 years, apart from two years working in Greece.   Until she moved to France she ran her own travel agency in London.

Both Rosie and Carlo are passionate about dogs,  photography, travel, food and wine, to mention but a few of the things that motivate them in life!
